Joe Powers, one of the CAAC-1's best and brightest, is our hoops diary author for the 2007-2008 season.

Joe's most vital statistic is 15--and that's not his points per game average, either. Joe is ranked 15th in his class at Holt, a large class A school south of Lansing, with a 3.96 grade point average.

Joe has made all-area and all-league in football, basketball and, you guessed it, tennis. As a freshman, he was a member of the state championship team at Holt, headlined by Tyler Reed, Paul Crosby and Muhammad El-Amin. As a junior, he averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game while leading the Rams to a district championship.

Scout's view: He's a power guard with a rare combination of toughness and touch. He is the type of player who will score 30 on you before you decide to stop judging the book by its cover.
